Privacy notice

ToneBridge privacy

Applies to the ToneBridge app for iOS and Android (bundle id and package name com.isriver.tonebridge; repository name langLearningApp): offline Mandarin flashcards and tone drills for English speakers. Its sister app 漢橋 KanBridge is described in the KanBridge notice.

This service is operated by llab08, Hong Kong, and these terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong. The section below explains this product’s data handling and current availability. ToneBridge is not yet available to the public on the App Store or Google Play.

Summary

The app works entirely offline. It does not collect, transmit or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no network requests of any kind. The lessons, word lists and pictures are built into the app.

Permissions

ToneBridge asks for no device permission, and the Android app does not request internet access. The only entry in the Android bundle is the framework’s own app-scoped permission guarding a broadcast receiver inside the app, which grants no access to anything on your phone. “Privacy policy” in the app’s Me tab opens llab08.com in your browser; the browser, not the app, then handles that request.

Data stored on your device

Your study progress (card scheduling state, review history, quiz results, milestones, the skill-tree nodes you have learned and your settings) is stored only in the app’s private storage on your device. The app never uploads it, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app. If your device’s own backup (iCloud or Google) is switched on, that backup may include this data under your backup provider’s terms.

Backups you create

“Export backup file” in the Me tab writes a JSON file that you choose where to save or share (via your device’s share sheet). That file contains only your study data; the app never uploads it anywhere. “Import backup file” reads a file you pick and, after you confirm, replaces the study history on this device. What you do with an exported file is under your control.

Text-to-speech

ToneBridge ships no recorded voice audio. Pronunciation uses your device’s built-in Chinese voice, if one is installed: the app passes the word to your operating system’s speech engine and sends no text to any server. Your operating system’s speech engine may have its own privacy terms.

Children

Because the app collects no data, no data about children is collected either.

Changes

If a future version ever collects data (for example optional cloud sync), this notice will be updated first and the change will be described in the app’s release notes.

Content disclaimer

ToneBridge’s word lists are curated study lists aligned to HSK bands, not official exam data. The app is not affiliated with Hanban/CLEC.
